I'm a 23-year old whiteblack woman that is very happy to have found this website. My father is African American, and my mom is White. Most people think I'm white when they first see me, but throughout my entire life I've refused to "pass".....I wish I could put a permanent sticker on my forehead that says "Yes, I'm Black too!" I come from a racially diverse family, with other sisters and brothers that are black/white and a sister that is Mexican/Black. Do we get looks when we go out together! People have a hard time figuring us out.
I'm interested in pursuing a doctorate in multiracial/biracial issues, and would love to dialogue with others about their experiences. As a teacher, I am interested in shaping curriculum, and as a political scientist, I am interested on how other biracial/multiracial people view their unique role and contribution in the struggle to end racism. In particular, I'm interested in issues of white privilege and where we stand in educating ourselves and others about racial inequality.
