Hi, my name is Karma. I came upon this site when I was doing a research project on "mixed" people. I find this site very helpful as a support group for similar experiences of people who are "mixed." I have a twin sister and we are mixed with Black, German, and Cherokee and Choctaw Indian. We were always the lightest on my dad's side of the family (Black and Indian side), but we fit in on my mom's side (German). I have always felt more comfortable in social settings dominated by people of color although I have friends of all colors. Growing up in San Francisco played a significant role in my upbringing and how I identified with the world. I am just thirlled to see more and more faces of "mixed" backgrounds, further melting this American pot we live in. I used to be hung up on the color of my skin because I wasn't dark enough to be Black and I didn't have enough White features to look 100% White. I celebrate my mixed heritage and feel that we are no longer the smallest minority of minorities in society.
