I orginally found this web site because of a project I was doing on the biracial experience. I am a biracial individual myself and I wondered if others felt the same way about being biracial as I do. I am Polish and African American and certainly very proud of my heritage. My parents are divorced and I live with my white mother. This makes it difficult to assert who I am because my father seem to live worlds away. It wasn't until recently that I found out that i don't have to say I'm black or I'm white, I can just say that I'm me no further commentary needed.

What I wish others would learn about being biracial is that confusion and unnaceptance does occur. It is as real a feeling as any other emotion. I still have things to learn about myself, but this I know to be true.
