Celeste Bell

I am a 17 year old girl from London, England. I came across a section on mixed- race people and I was very pleased to see it being recognised in America.I myself come from a country where people of mixed-race are much more accepted and recognised, the "black" member of the Spice Girls is well known as being mixed race in England. i am also of mixed racial origins but my appearance is that of a white person(many people think I look like a greek or Spaniard!)my mother is half white and half black(Somalian)and she has a dark skinned complexion, and my father is white, although he too has some mixed heritage, as do so many people in my country. I have usually considered myself to be white, but I have never felt totally caucasian, especially as most of my immediete family are black and mixed race.I suppose their is some confusion to what I am, but I embrace my culture as being a positive thing, and I know come to regard myself as a mixed race person with a white appearance. I believe strongly that we should all feel proud of whatevercolour we are and we should not let others classify us to be what they want us to be.
