Babette Simon

Where do I begin? Well, I am 35 years old multicultural. My family roots are well embedded in every fiber of my existence. My mother is Bermudan with blood ties to Spain and East India. My father is Jewish, German and Irish. Any yes I am so tired of being asked "Well, what are you" it is such a common question that I feel almost complied to answer, before they can utter the words. Maybe it is the look in their eyes, their hesitation-whatever it is I know that they are just waiting for the just for the right moment to ask. After the laundry has been aired. The interrogation begins, "Wow that's a mix or what do you consider yourself" I simply say that I am ME. I cannot nor want to be anything that other what I AM. It has taken many cultures to create who I am and I am extremely PROUD. Regardless if society is willing to accept me. I accept my presence in this world.
